Daniel C. Flynn, Ph.D., Appointed to Research Park at Florida Atlantic University Governing Authorit

Boca Raton, FL – The Research Park at Florida Atlantic University announces that Daniel C. Flynn, Ph.D., Vice President for Research at Florida Atlantic University, has been appointed to serve on the Florida Atlantic Research & Development Authority (FARDA).

Currently, Dr. Flynn oversees research administration in the Division of Research at Florida Atlantic University, including the Office of Sponsored Programs, Research Integrity, Research Accounting, Technology Development, Veterinary Services, Research Communications and the Florida Atlantic University Research Corporation.

The division works to expand and support the University’s academic and research programs, promoting research, scholarship, creativity and collaboration with faculty and students.

“The potential for meaningful R&D collaboration between the Research Park’s innovative companies and FAU’s creative faculty is very exciting for me, and serving FARDA in this way will advance those efforts,” said Dr. Flynn.

Prior to joining FAU in January 2015, Flynn served as Associate Dean for Research in the College of Health Sciences at the University of Delaware. In that role, he helped grow the research enterprise by 60 percent, promoted the development of invention disclosures and patent applications by faculty and developed undergraduate entrepreneurial programs and research programs. He also served as the founding Associate Dean for Research and Economic Development at The Commonwealth Medical College. He oversaw all research activities at the college, including sponsored programs, research compliance, interactions with industry and technology transfer.

“We are fortunate to have Dr. Flynn join the Authority,” said Andrew Duffell, President and CEO of the Research Park at Florida Atlantic University. “His background in research combined with his deep experience in entrepreneurial ventures will provide valuable insight as we continue to grow the Research Park.” Dr. Flynn was appointed by the president of Florida Atlantic University and will join FARDA alongside Bruce Rosetto, Esq., elected as chair for a second one-year term, Bob Parks, Ed.D., who will serve as vice chair and Michael Daszkal, CPA appointed as treasurer.

The Florida Atlantic Research and Development Authority was created in 1985 by Palm Beach and Broward County commissions to promote scientific research and development and promote the broadening of the economic base of the two counties. It is a special district organized under Chapter 159 of the Florida Statutes.
